Short Description
You will be part of a team working on a critical component of Grail, Dynatrace’s cloud-native, high-performance storage. This is where petabytes of observability data meet real-time analytics. Your work will directly influence how data is structured, accessed, and scaled across global environments.
Your role at Dynatrace
- Lead and prioritize the team backlog by collaborating with stakeholders to ensure it is well-maintained and conceptually sound.
- Craft and align user stories, ensuring they are well-defined, aligned with the product strategy, and clarifying any details as needed.
- Define and commit to epics by establishing clear landing zones and ensuring timely delivery of team commitments, with transparent planning and risk communication.
- Act as the team’s gatekeeper by balancing stakeholder perspectives, actively surfacing team needs, and communicating progress and blockers in both directions.
- Act as the first point of contact for stakeholders to assess the team's involvement in implementing new features.
- Approve user stories by validating them against acceptance criteria and the Definition of Done.
- Set Sprint goals in collaboration with the team and proactively communicate delays or risks early to maintain delivery reliability.
- Challenge and understand requirements by diving deep into customer pain points to grasp the “What” and “Why” behind them.
- Clearly communicate the “Why” and “What” to the team to ensure shared understanding, alignment with the product vision, and empowered decision-making during implementation.
- Ensure transparency by making progress visible, sharing updates regularly, documenting outcomes and decisions in a structured, accessible way, and conducting thorough reviews for each sprint iteration.
- Based on your background, you can also implement tasks and support the team by monitoring your services and components.
What will help you succeed
- Mandatory: At least 3 years of hands-on experience in Java backend development or a comparable backend technology stack. This is a core requirement – you will be expected to engage in technical discussions, understand backend architecture, and determine the scope and degree of your team's involvement in new features in the larger system landscape.
- Foundational knowledge: Degree in Software Engineering or equivalent practical experience in software development.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written — you actively share knowledge, document decisions, and ensure clarity across all stakeholders.
- A strong sense of organizational diligence — you take initiative in structuring workflows, maintain a clear paper trail, ensure structured Jira tickets, and make decisions traceable and transparent.
- Experience as a technical Product Owner or in a similar role, with a proven ability to balance stakeholder needs, communicate progress, and anticipate risks early.
- A self-driven, proactive mindset — you take ownership, follow through on cross-cutting topics, and escalate when needed.
- Experience working in agile teams, with a solid understanding of agile principles and team dynamics.
- Able to prioritize effectively and stay focused in a fast-moving environment, ensuring reliable delivery without compromising team well-being or quality.
- Strategic thinking and a strong sense of value orientation — you understand the “why” behind features and work with developers to shape the “how”.
- You work transparently and collaboratively — you write things down, share context openly, and communicate clearly so others don’t have to guess.
