Java backend engineer (m/f/x)
Your role at Dynatrace
Join one of the backbone teams at Dynatrace, that delivers the edge components to the world. We're at the core of engineering, managing the critical pipeline for shipping product components to customers. As a Java Engineer, you'll focus on the backend services orchestrating our product rollouts in a cross-functional domain with a strong Java focus. You will occasionally work on related areas such as frontend features and build tooling to broaden your technical scope.
- Contribute to mission-critical systems that ensure the reliable and secure delivery of key Dynatrace components to our customers.
- Collaborate closely with product teams and Site Reliability Engineers (SREs) to continuously improve the stability, observability, and scalability of our delivery pipeline.
- Apply an automation-first mindset to reduce manual effort, improve operational efficiency, and automate processes.
- Be ready to take ownership of features and bug fixes, guiding them from initial implementation all the way to production.
What will help you succeed
We are looking for a junior to intermediate level engineer who has strong analytical and problem-solving skills. The ideal candidate has the ability to work independently on well-scoped tasks and gradually take on more ownership.
- 2 – 4 years of professional, hands-on experience writing production-level Java code.
- Additional experience in either Spring Boot, Angular or Golang, or in operating highly critical services.
- A solid understanding of backend engineering fundamentals (APIs, services, data flows).
- An automation mindset and interest in improving developer and operational workflows. Curiosity and willingness to learn across disciplines (e.g., build systems, CI/CD, frontend basics).

- Due to legal reasons, we are obliged to disclose the minimum salary according to this position, which is EUR 50,000 gross per year (based on full-time). We offer a higher salary in line with qualifications and experience.
