Director, Solutions Engineering, Central East Asia

Your role at Dynatrace

The Dynatrace Sales Engineering organisation champions our strategic direction and vision, as well as promoting and advocating new product direction to and on behalf of our customers. They are both a trusted advisor and solution consultant.

We are looking for a senior technical leader to own Solution Engineering across Central East Asia (CEA): Hong Kong, Taiwan, Macau, Mongolia and China. Based in Hong Kong, you will lead and inspire a diverse, multilingual team with a strong track record in growth and winning, and mentor them to reach even greater heights.

The role is scoped at Senior Manager level, with Director level available for the right experience, also potentially an expanded country coverage may come later. The successful candidate has a proven track record of building and developing technical teams and has worked extensively in the pre-sales technical space. The right candidate has the correct mix of business savvy, technical prowess and a hands-on leader. The ideal candidate must have demonstrated the ability to engage in senior-level business and technology discussions related to enterprise agility, cloud adoption and digital transformation.

Why this role, and why now

Enterprises are moving AI out of the lab and into production, and finding that models, agents and AI-generated code fail in ways traditional monitoring was never designed to catch. Dynatrace is investing decisively to lead that shift for example through our agreement to acquire Arize, the AI observability leader. Set that alongside our work in AI-assisted software delivery and DevSecOps, and you will be helping define a category rather than explaining it.

What you will do

• Lead, develop and mentor a diverse, multilingual team of Solution Engineers, building an environment where people do the best work of their careers.
• Own the technical sales strategy for CEA, partnering with regional sales leadership on the planning, insight and execution that accelerate growth and winning.
• Act as a visible thought leader - in executive briefings, at industry events and in the wider technical community - shaping how the market thinks about AI and observability.
• Build trust with CTOs, CIOs, Chief Architects and platform and SRE leaders through genuine technical leadership rather than title.
• Champion the AI agenda with customers: AI observability, agentic systems in production, AI-assisted coding, and the governance and cost questions that follow.
• Advance the DevSecOps and platform engineering conversation across observability, application security and intelligent automation.
• Act as the region’s voice into Product Development on roadmap priorities, local market needs and the competitive landscape.

What will help you succeed

• 10+ years in technical pre-sales or solution engineering, including at least 5 years leading pre-sales teams. Experience leading across multiple countries, or leading other leaders, is a strong advantage.
• A proven track record of building, scaling and retaining high-performing technical teams in a fast-growing enterprise software business.
• An empathetic and inclusive leadership style, with demonstrated ability to inspire and unite a diverse team across cultures, languages and working styles.
• Recognised credibility as a thought leader in the technology space — through executive engagement, public speaking, writing or community contribution.
• Genuine fluency in modern architectures and methods: Kubernetes and cloud-native platforms, CI/CD, DevSecOps, platform engineering and observability at scale.
• Working knowledge of the enterprise AI landscape — LLM and agentic applications in production, AI-assisted development, and the emerging discipline of AI observability and evaluation.
• Demonstrated ability to engage at senior level on enterprise agility, cloud adoption, AI adoption and digital transformation, with a strong record of driving customer satisfaction.
• Excellent communication, critical thinking and analytical skills, and the presence to hold a room of any size.
• Based in Hong Kong, with the ability to travel regularly across the CEA region.

Nice-to-Have

• Experience working for a high-growth SaaS or enterprise software vendor.
• Experience with public cloud providers (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and their AI/ML services.
• Specific experience in observability, Application Performance Management (APM), or AI/ML model monitoring and evaluation.
• Development experience in one or more of the following languages – Java, .Net, C/C++, Python, Node.js, Go or PHP.
• Familiarity with application security, cloud security posture and compliance automation.
• Understanding of IT Service Management practices and solutions.
• Business-level Cantonese and/or Mandarin in addition to English.
• Bachelors degree in Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
